Christmas Coupon Advice You Can Use!

Friday, December 11th, 2009

As mentioned in the previous post, we are in a recession, which means that Christmas shopping is going to be a little tougher than usual. You are going to have to be on your hustle if you are going to buy more but spend less. It’s not impossible but it can be done; you just have to be ready and willing to look for the deals. First, before you go to any retail store, do your homework. You should have a list ready of what you want to buy and what your total budget it going to be. Then look at the retailer’s website. Price compare online and shop around for the biggest discounts and the best deals. Many online stores like Medifast.com will have online coupons that you can print out and bring into the store with you. Make sure that you check as many retailers as you can for the item you want to purchase. There will be price wars, I guarantee it. Don’t be afraid to bargain when it comes to electronics, cars, and major purchases.

At this point, every retailer is just looking to move inventory. It’s been sitting on the shelves for months and they will sell it too you for nearly a penny just to get it off their hands. So when it comes to any product, be it Medifast, gloves, flat screen televisions, computers, clothing or whatever, bargain shop and don’t stop until you get the price you want. In case you didn’t know, this is the Buffett strategy.

Christmas in a Recession

Friday, December 4th, 2009

Times are unusually tough this year because of the recession. This means that it will be harder for you to buy the gifts you ordinarily would buy for family and friends. I’m sure they will understand however, because it has probably been a hard year for them too. But there is a way to still have a good Christmas in this recession. However, we must first remember that Christmas is not about gift giving: it’s about Jesus who gave the ultimate gift to mankind. If we keep that in mind, then the year won’t seem bad at all. Now that we’ve gotten our perspective right, we can focus on gift giving. This year, I am giving my parents a handmade card. That’s right! Hand made. And in it I am placing the gifts that I would have gotten them if I had the money. I figure we will all get a good laugh, and it will express my sincerest sentiments. Other creative things that you can do include shopping at the dollar store or at Collections Etc. where everything is priced under $14.99. While the gifts may not be expensive, you will find some rare finds that are worthwhile.

Remember that food is always a good uniter. Having good food always helps! So this year’s Christmas party should be filled with good food. Instead of providing all the food yourself though, have a potluck and ask that everyone bring a dish. This in combinatino with your Collections Etc gifts, you are sure to have a Merry Christmas.

Get Ready, Set, Go! Black Friday is Here!

Friday, November 27th, 2009

On your marks, get ready, get set, go! If you haven’t heard already, Black Friday is here! That means it’s time for you to put your running shoes on. There are going to be tons of great sales this Black Friday. I’m going to mention a few in case you haven’t already heard. A few weeks ago, it was mentioned on Good Morning America on ABC that there were going to be some awesome sales during this year’s recession version of Black Friday. The following deals were discussed: Wal-Mart, Amazon.com, and Target will all be selling books for $9 or less. That’s right, hardback books, paperback books, best sellers, new releases and more! So if you have books on the list for any of your relatives or friends, be sure to get them on Black Friday with one of these venders. Also, be on the look out for great shoes from Maryland Square. Not exactly sure yet what kinds of deals they will be having, but just expect to be surprise.

Toys R Us and Wal-Mart will also be competing this year for cheapest prices on toys and DVDs, with both running the customer just under $10. All of this is in an effort to combat one of the worst retail holiday seasons in the history of mass merchant retailing in the United States. The recssion is definitely hitting home for retailers too this year which means that stores like Old Navy, Macys, Masseys, and mroe will have great deals for you to take advantage of.  So if you can afford to shop, do so. Otherwise, keep your but at home!

Preparing For Black Friday

Friday, November 13th, 2009

Black Friday is fast approaching and there is no better time to begin preparing than the present. The day after Thanksgiving, also known as Black Friday, is the biggest single shopping day of the year. It’s true that people shop year round, but the day after Thanksgiving always sees the biggest number of people in the malls, in the stores, and in general, in the streets. Why? Well the day after Thanksgiving officially begins the countdown to Christmas Day, so its the first day that people really begin shopping for Christmas gifts. Retailers and stores know this so they try and offer some of their “best” initial deals to get additional customers to come into their stores and spend money. Every store from Maryland Square Shoes to Sur La Table will be offering special savings and discounts. So if you are planning on getting into the stores this Black Friday, then you are going to need to be very well equipped; not just with your credit or debit card, but also with a good pair of walking shoes.

Every year, people come home after shopping on Black Friday with blisters, bunions, and corns on their feet bigger than when they left. Make sure that you aren’t one of those poor fools this year by ensuring that you wear comfortable shoes. Masseys has a variety of comfortable shoes that will offer the right kind of support for your foot. Whatever you do, don’t go shopping in stilletos or high heeled boots. Be sensible and be prepared!

Back To School Shopping On A Budget

Wednesday, September 16th, 2009

Going back to school is not supposed to be expensive. In fact it is supposed to be virtually free considering that most of us pay taxes to send our kids to public schools for free.  Though we do, we still have to buy them school supplies, books, lunch kits, and who can forget, new clothes. All children beg their parents for new clothes every fall season so that they can look their absolute best. That being we all know that this country is still in a recession and nobody wants to spend a boat load of money on anything.  With that in mind, there are two places that you should start with when it comes to back to school shopping: Gap and Old Navy.

Gap is a great place to get the basics for your kids: jeans, basic tees, and sweaters.  Old Navy also has great items for kids, but even more accessories. The bottom line is that you can spend a little money at either one of these stores and get a lot which means that both you and your kids will be happy!

Back To School, Back to Your Favorite Shows!

Wednesday, September 9th, 2009

Now that the kids have finally gone back to school every parent is super duper excited. But for more than one reason! We are all excited to not have to think about children and where they are going to be while we are at work. School completely takes care of that! But now it’s back to our favorite programming! There will be tons of season premieres, new shows, new episodes, and more. For those of us who are Grey’s Anatomy fans, there will be new episodes of that. Desperate Housewives, one of my personal favorites will be back as well. If you have cable like Direct TV, there will be a ton of additional programming on like “Meet The Browns”, Project Runway, and Real Housewives of Atlanta!

Whatever your favorite show is, make sure that you are equipped to tape it or record it in case you can’t be there to watch at its scheduled time. Directv.com has a variety of packages to chose from and most of them include some kind of dvr device that will make sure that you can watch all of your favorite shows. In addition, you won’t miss any of the special premieres of cable only programming which is great too! So whatever you do, make the most of back to school, by getting back to your favorite shows!

All Eyes on Hurricane Bill

Tuesday, August 25th, 2009

This hurricane season so far has been relatively uneventful….until this past week! There are several storms brewing in the seas, and we are all just going to have to wait to see what happens. While our eyes are on hurricane Bill, we also need to have them on our stomaches! That’s right I said it! We need to be paying attention to how much we eat and exercise. Try the Medifast diet if you need to lose weight in addition to a healthrider treadmill for exercise!

Get Ready For Your Next Doctor’s Appointment

Monday, August 17th, 2009

Get ready for your next check up with the doctor by exercising and eating properly. Many of us go to the doctor only to have them tell us that we need to exercise more and eat right. Don’t pay to hear what you already know. Workout a little everyday on a Reebok treadmill and try a diet like Medifast!

Spring into the GAP!

Friday, March 27th, 2009

Think scarves are so for the fall season? Well think again, you can easily pair a nice, lightweight, pastel-colored scarf with jeans and a t-shirt. Gap Clothing has some awesome women’s scarves on sale for this season that look great, but won’t cost you an arm and a leg. Scarves can be dressed up or down, by adding pearls or your favorite dangling chandelier earrings in spunky colors. Scarves come in a variety of colors, which makes it easy to mix and match your wardrobe regularly. A great accessory is all you need to pull off a hot outfit. Remember, it’s not how much you pay; it’s how you wear it!
